Why are you doing these works?

We’re committed to keeping our customers, community and environment safe. As part of this commitment, we perform regular testing to make sure our sites are safe, even after being decommissioned.

Should I worry about soil and water contamination?

No, the condition of your soil and water is safe. We tested these sites when they were active, we continue to monitor them now to ensure they are safe. If we do find results of contamination, we will act quickly and inform you of how we plan to rectify the situation.

What do the works involve?

We take samples inside the site and from the surrounding area for testing. Collection methods include drilling holes to retrieve ground water and soil samples.

How will this impact me?

You may see more AusNet vehicles and crew in your area in the days leading up to the work. We’ll reduce noise as much as possible, and there will be no interruption to your power or gas supply.

Will there be changes to traffic or parking in my area?

No, there will not be traffic changes or parking restrictions in place for this work. There may be some short delays as we bring equipment into the site. We’ll minimise these as much as we can.

Is it safe to do these works during the COVID-19 pandemic?

We follow government advice for keeping our crews and communities safe from COVID-19. Some of the ways our crews are keeping safe are wearing masks and social distancing. You can help us by following lockdown restrictions and keeping a safe distance from crew.
