In consultation with the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), we’re embarking on a major works project to upgrade the existing high voltage (220 kV) powerline between Moorabool and Ballarat.
No disruption to your electricity supply will occur during this upgrade, and every effort will be made to minimise vegetation clearance.
Work began in July 2016 and is scheduled for completion by early 2017.
The Moorabool to Ballarat upgrade will involve installing a third 220 kV circuit onto the south-west side of towers located along the length of the transmission line. These towers were installed in 1985 with capacity to add additional circuits to meet expected growth in the north-west region.
As outlined in the diagram below, this new circuit will mirror the existing circuit on the other side of the tower.

Across all stages of this project, we’ve been in regular contact with local communities to collect feedback and provide information about our plans. Feedback from landowners will help us to minimise potential disruptions to farming activities and local traffic.
During the planning phase, we distributed brochures to landowners along the Moorabool to Ballarat transmission line. Please use the links below to view these brochures.
Our project team will be contacting all landowners by letter and phone to provide further information about the upgrade works and access requirements.
