Changes to network tariffs

From 1 July 2021, there is a new two-rate tariff structure for residential and small business customers (who have less than 40 megawatt hours of energy consumption annually).

See the table below for applicable peak and off-peak times.

The development of these new tariffs has been informed by an extensive consultation process with a wide range of stakeholders including customers, customer advocates, the Victorian Government and the Australian Energy Regulator. More information on this process can be found on our page here


Who does this apply to?

New residential and small business customers connecting to our distribution network for the first time will automatically be placed on the new tariff.

If you’re an existing residential or small business customer, you'll also receive the new tariff if you're:


  • upgrading to three phase metering;
  • installing new solar1 and/or battery systems;
  • own an EV2
  • currently on the legacy time of use (ToU) tariff3

 

Tariff choices

If you’re a customer who has moved to the new two-rate structure, or an existing customer on their existing tariff, we have different tariff choices to meet your electricity needs.

If you’d like to change your tariff5, please contact your retailer to discuss your tariff options available to you and to organise a network tariff change6.

1 Solar customers will be placed on a solar variant of the new two-rate tariff.

2 If an EV register or other formal means of identification becomes available, EV customers will be assigned to the new two-rate tariff structure. 

3 Not applicable to existing residential customers on NEE24. Solar customers (residential and small business) will be moved to the solar variant of the new two-rate tariff. Residential customers on legacy tariffs with dedicated circuits will be moved to the dedicated circuit variants of the new two-rate tariff. For a full list of these legacy tariffs impacted by this change, click here.

4 Solar customers (residential and small business) will be moved to the solar variant of the new two-rate tariff. Residential customers on legacy tariffs with dedicated circuits will be moved to the dedicated circuit variants of the new two-rate tariff.

5 EV customers will not be able to change to the single-rate tariff structure. 

6 Upon changing tariff, customers are required to remain on the new tariff for a minimum period of twelve months.
